GENERAL HUNTING PROVISIONS
TYPES OF HUNTS
There are two types of individual hunts: a stand hunting and a stalk hunting. A Polish hunting guide always accompanies the foreign hunter during the hunt and explains him the rules of hunting with the help of an interpreter.
A big game hunt starts with the sunrise. The game is driven about 7-10 times a day. The Polish hunting guide shows the foreign hunters their positions and the direction, from which the game is driven. About 1 p.m. a lunch break is planned, which takes place at bonfire in the forest. Every evening, after the hunt the display of trophies takes place, during which the hunters show respect for the hunted animals.
HUNTING PROTOCOL
The hunting protocol is drown in presence of the foreign hunter, interpreter, representatives of the hunting club and our agency on the last day of hunting.
Aims of the protocol:
- Listing the game hunted
- Allowance to take the trophies and meat out of the country without paying the customs duties
- Basis for squaring accounts between the foreign hunter, the hunting club and our agency.
If the foreign hunter leaves his trophies in Poland after the hunt, it has to be mentioned in the report. Otherwise taking the trophies out of the country at a later date will not be possible.
Wounded big game, which left a trail of blood, must be mentioned in the report and counts to the total number of game hunted.
In case of hunting any wild animal during the closed season on that species or when a Polish hunting guide forbids it, the foreign hunter is obliged to pay a fine.
Measurements of the trophies are usually taken 24 hours after their preparation. If the game is hunted shortly before the hunter’s departure, the trophy is prepared and measured as soon as possible. After putting the weight of the trophy in protocol, the foreign hunter cannot insist on decreasing it.
If the foreign hunter would like to take the whole head of a wild boar with him, it is generally accepted that the total length of the trophy amounts to the triple lenght of the sticking out wild boar’s tusks.
